Every home at Rachel Carson EcoVillage comes with friendly neighbors, no exterior maintenance, and many opportunities for customization. The second floor of all the available homes can be left open or customized to add two more bedrooms, an additional bathroom, and additional living space as desired. The layouts of these homes are great for families, as well as easy to set up for house sharing with plenty of privacy. They’re also designed for convenient aging in place.
Y11 (Viceroy): This two-bedroom one-bath home offers a lovely view of the forest as well as proximity to the common house and parking. it has an at-grade entrance, and its private yard can be fenced.
Y12 (Swallowtail): With two bedrooms and two bathrooms on the ground floor, this is one of the sunnier homes in the community. It offers easy access to both the common house and parking, yet it has ample privacy. Its large living room porch overlooks a beautiful rain garden and the hillside beyond. Its private yard, which can be fenced, has an at-grade entrance to the kitchen.
Y22 (Swallowtail): offers a great combination of sunshine, views, and privacy. It overlooks woods and meadows, with a lovely view of a series of rain gardens. It’s a great unit for a gardener, with generous space for planting and only a short distance from the planned community garden. Its private yard with an at-grade kitchen entrance can be fenced for pets. From the yard, it’s an easy walk to the common house.
Y42 (Swallowtail): This is the only remaining home that can have either its own backyard or a large fenced shared yard shared with the adjacent Viceroy. Large windows open onto the heart of the forest and the land that slopes down to the stream. Its large front porch is a few steps up from the short path to the common house.
Y51(Viceroy) Situated in the eastern cluster, this woodland home’s large, at-grade front porch provides beautiful views into the forest. The back porch and deck overlook the stream and wetlands as well as the woods. The living room has south- and east-facing windows with views of the rain garden courtyard. Like all Viceroys, there are two bedrooms and one bath on the first floor.
Z11 (Swallowtail): For anyone who would enjoy popping into the common house for meals, activities, or just to hang out with a friend, this is a perfect unit. From its at-grade porch to the common house is only a few steps. Its deck is also at ground-floor level. This home offers the convenience of two ground floor bedrooms and bathrooms.
Z12 (Duskywing) The only Duskywing still available, this home has the advantages of a great location with at-grade living. Its first floor has two bedrooms and a bathroom, as well as generous living spaces, which are expanded by the room-sized deck and front-porch. From the house it is only a short walk either to the common house or into the woods.
Z41 (Swallowtail): This home will be especially appealing to nature lovers and pet owners. It overlooks the eastern rain garden courtyard with other lovely views into the forest. Its large living room porch is a few steps up from the courtyard, while its kitchen porch opens at grade to its yard, which can be fenced for pets. From the home, which is located on high ground, the views from its upstairs windows are outstanding and there are pleasant paths both to the common house and to parking.
